Summer Camp for Preteens
Summer Camp is a big deal. A REALLY BIG DEAL!
Yes, camp is wild and fun.
Yes, camp is 4-5 days away from mom, dad, and the family.
Yes, camp is filled with adventure and discovery.
But Summer Camp is a uniquely designed environment where big things happen in the lives of kids (and sometimes the adults too)! Many adults fondly remember spiritual growth and decisions that happened when at camp as a child.
Camp RidgeKidz understands the importance of summer camp for a kid. It’s not just the best week of a kid’s summer, but it’s also an opportunity to take big relational and spiritual steps. Amazing leaders invest their lives into a group of kids to ensure the experience is meaningful for everyone!
The preteen years are critical for kids. It’s a pivotal time in the way a kid sees others, themselves and God. A week of summer camp may be the life-changing week your kid needs!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Where is Camp Ridge Kidz
Camp RidgeKidz will be held at Mountain Fellowship Camp and Retreat Center in Suchez, GA. Camp Ridge Kidz has exclusive use of the facilities (there will be no other groups at Mountain Fellowship that week).
What grade do I register my child for?
Register your child for the grade they are currently in (2023/2024 school year). At Ridge Kidz, we offically promote kids into their new grades after the summer.
What is your cancelation policy?
Refunds are available until June 1. If you are unable to make it to the event, all funds will be put towards families in need who otherwise couldn’t afford to send their preteen to camp.
What if I need a scholarship?
We desire every kid to attend camp and will do whatever is necessary to help make that happen. We significantly subsidize camp to make it affordable for every family. However, we also provide scholarships for those who need extra help. Camp Registration has an option to request a scholarship. We ask that you register and pay the $25 deposit to save your spot. After we receive your registration, we will reach out with scholarship details.
Who are the leaders/volunteers?
Our leaders and volunteers love Jesus and preteens. They are background-checked, trained on safety, and equipped to care for preteens and share the gospel. Our ratios are roughly one volunteer to four preteen campers.
Who is in charge?
The Ridge Kidz team will be running Camp Ridge Kidz. Kenny Conley, the (interim) Kids Director, is a 25 year veteran of Children’s Ministry and has run summer camps for kids for 20+ years. The staff at Mountain Lake also provide support while we are there.
Can I request that my child is in the same group as his/her friends?
Yes! We will do our best to accommodate your request, but we cannot make guarantees. We generally group kids based on their current grades.
Are phones allowed at camp?
We want campers to unplug and focus on being present with others and with God! Additionally, phone service doesn’t work in most areas around Mountain Fellowship. Please have your preteen leave all electronic devices at home.
Do you accommodate dietary needs?
Unfortunately, the kitchen staff cannot prepare multiple food options for various dietary needs. However, the kitchen provides refrigerator access (and a microwave). Campers with specific needs can bring their own food and store it in the kitchen.
Does my camper need spending money?
The camp store will be open daily (Tuesday-Friday). Twenty dollars for drinks and snacks should be more than enough.
Can my camper arrive late or leave early?
Though we highly recommend you stay the entire duration of camp, we can accommodate special requests. Please let the Ridge Kidz staff know at least a week before camp.
How does transportation to and from camp work?
We will not provide transportation between The Ridge and Mountain Fellowship. Parents (you can also carpool) will need to drop off campers at Mountain Fellowship on Tuesday and pick them up on Saturday.
My camper takes medication. What do I need to do?
We have staff/volunteers who will ensure kids take their medication at the propper time. At the time of drop-off, all medications must be given to our medications team-member, must be in their original pharmacy container with written instructions in a sealable plastic bag with the camper’s full name printed on it. You will pick up the proper medications when you pick up your camper!
When is pickup/drop off?
Pickup and dropoff will happen at Mountain Fellowship Camp (no one will be at the church). Dropoff will be at 4p on Tuesday, June 18 and pickup will be at 11a on June 22.
If there is an emergency, how can I get in touch with my child?
If there is a serious emergency and you need to speak with your child while at camp, you can contact us 24/7. We will provide the emergency number the week before camp.
ADDITIONAL FAQ
Can someone else drop off/pick up my camper?
Yes. However, you need to email [email protected] and let us know. We will not release your child to someone other than you without your permission.
Does my child actually need a sleeping bag?
No. All beds are plywood bunks with a thin mattress (it feels like plastic with some padding). If your child doesn’t have a sleeping bag, just bring a couple of sheets (one like a fitted sheet and another for sleeping under) and a warm blanket (sometimes the cabins get really cold). Also, don’t forget a pillow.
What if I need to pick up my child early or drop them off late?
That’s perfectly fine. Just email us (so we have it in writing), and we’ll plan for their late/early departure/arrival).
