Each year around this time, RidgeKidz will promote kids into their next phase based on their age/grade. For some, this means they get to experience an exciting new environment. For others, there is virtually no change.
The info below will help you prepare for Promotion Sunday, August 4th! Please select the dropdown box below for more info on each ministry area!

Kid’s Promoting into Kindergarten
Kindergarten is the beginning of RidgeKidz’ ministry to elementary kids! Here are some things you’ll need to know about our ministry to Kindergarten and First Graders:
- Kids will check in at one of our iPads in the lobby. When you check-in, your child will receive TWO identical nametags. One nametag will go on their shirt, and the other will be given to his/her leader.
- The K/1st classroom is the third classroom on the right. The doors open 10 minutes before service. Pick up your kindergartener where you dropped him/her off. Be sure to show your security tag (the number on your child’s nametag will match the number on your tag) at pick-up.
- Our goal in elementary is to help kids grow up making wiser choices, building stronger relationships, and developing a deeper faith. Our curriculum (252 Kids) combines child development and theology to create a more engaging experience for elementary kids. We hope to inspire deeper faith and help kids apply God’s truth to their lives.
- Because K/1st is early elementary, learning revolves around high-energy and hands-on activities. Learning is based on discovery and experiences – guided by consistent leaders.
Kid’s Promoting into Second Grade
Second Grade is an exciting age to be! No longer are these kids little – but they still have plenty of time before they’re “grown-up” preteens. Here are some things you’ll need to know about our ministry to Second and Third Graders:
- Kids will check in at one of our iPads in the lobby. When you check in, your child will receive TWO identical nametags. One nametag will go on their shirt, and the other will be given to his/her leader.
- The 2nd/3rd classroom is at the end of the RidgeKidz hallway, just to the left. The doors open 10 minutes before service. Pick up your Second Grader where you dropped him/her off.
- Because 2nd/3rd is middle elementary, learning revolves around both activities and insightful discussions. Kids at this age vary in learning styles. They’ll still learn a lot by doing activities, but a guided conversation can also provide a lightbulb moment! Consistent leaders who know your child make all the difference at this age!
Kids Promoting into 4th Grade
Being a Fourth Grader is an amazing moment for any kid! Fourth and Fifth Graders are in the top class/group at RidgeKidz! We often refer to kids in 4th/5th Grades and Preteens! Not only is it really exciting being a Preteen, but it’s also a very critical time relationally and spiritually. The Preteen years are a critical foundation for one of their most challenging seasons to follow (Middle School). Here are some things you’ll need to know about our ministry to Second and Third Graders:
- Kids will check in at one of our iPads in the lobby. When you check in, your child will receive TWO identical nametags. One nametag will go on their shirt, and the other will be given to his/her leader.
- The 4th/5th graders meet in building 300, which is the portable building behind the church. However, we have a drop-off/pick-up spot at the end of the kid’s hallways where preteens are collected and taken to Building 300. No need to go directly to building 300 – we’ll escort the group there and back!.
- Because 4th/5th is upper elementary, learning revolves mostly around challenging conversations and insightful discussions. Kids at this age are becoming abstract thinkers, which is why they’ll still do some games and activities, but the big learnings will result from guided conversations with consistent leaders who know your child!
Kids Promoting into 6th Grade
Congrats to our Preteen graduates. Rising 6th graders have new opportunities to look forward to.
- RidgeStudents is an incredible ministry for 6th-12th graders. RidgeStudents meet from 6p to 8p on Wednesday nights. The new ministry year kicks off on August 14th!
- Middle School (6th grade specifically) is the first real opportunity to join a serving team. RidgeKidz offers several opportunities for Middle School and High School students to serve every weekend. Middle Schoolers can serve with preschool kids, and High Schoolers can serve with both preschool and elementary kids.
We have thoroughly enjoyed having your kids in our ministry (it’s sad to see them grow up)! However, we believe the BEST is yet to come. We look forward to seeing them connected at RidgeStudents and maybe serving with RidgeKidz in the years to come!
